Casino under construction in NY state accepting job applications

Rivers Casino in Schenectady, N.Y. is one step closer to opening its doors. The casino is accepting job applications.

Most of the listed positions are in management. Applications can be filled out online, or applicants can e-mail a resume and cover letter. In all, the casino plans on hiring more than 1,000 employees.

On February 3, representatives from Rush Street Gaming, local and state officials broke ground on the casino site near the banks of the Mohawk River.

Construction is expected to end by March 2017.

The operators of VIGL Operations LLC, the new casino at the Caravelle Hotel, located in downtown Christiansted, will host a job fair on Saturday, Feb. 20, seeking qualified candidates to fill numerous positions for the opening of the casino later this spring. The job fair will be held from noon to 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Innovative Building, which is near Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital.

The Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino’s replica of the Eiffel Tower went dark for two nights in a row as a tribute to victims of terrorist attacks in France.

The resort said on its Facebook page Saturday that the lights on its Eiffel Tower would be dimmed.

The hotel tower went dark Friday night after news of the deadly attacks in Paris spread.

Other tributes on the Las Vegas Strip included one on the High Roller, billed as the world’s tallest observation wheel.

The 550-foot-tall attraction was lit up in the colors of France’s flag - red, white and blue.
